MFT Stamps Color Challenge 196: Christmas Blessings Easel Card

Hello Crafty Friends! There's a new Color Challenge up on the My Favorite Things Stamps Blog. Have you entered it? Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!

Today, I tried something new ... I made my very first easel card! This Christmas card features the new RAM Christmas Blessings that is so beautifully illustrated by the incredibly talented Rachelle Anne Miller for MFT. It is such a gorgeous image that I decided to create a card design that would allow the recipient to also display the card. Hence, the easel design using the new Elegant Stitched STAX Die-namics. The colors were not exactly the same but they were inspired by the current Color Challenge. Confession: I did stray a bit from the colors by adding in a pop of yellow for the star and horn.  πŸ€«

I stamped the images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the image with Copic markers and highlighted gel pens. I used the  the coordinating RAM Christmas Blessings Die-namics to cut them out.

COPIC COLORS
Skin: E000/00/21/11/93
Hair: E41/42/43/44
Clothing: BG70 E91/93/95, C00/0/1
Stable/Manger: E42/43/44
Angel Gown/Wings: B000
Lambs: E000/00/21/93, E43, E44
Yellow: Y11/13/15

For the background, I took two pieces of Smooth White cardstock (4" x 11" and 4" x 5.5"). I masked off the upper half of the long piece. I ink blended the unmasked portion of both pieces with Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide inks.

Once the panels were dried, I took the long piece and scored it at 2" (on the ink blended side) and at 5.5". I folded it along the score line to create my card base. Then I took the smaller ink blended piece and diecut it with the second largest Elegant Stitched Die-namics. While I had these Die-namics out, I also diecut the largest sized one with Smooth White cardstock.

For the ground, I took a piece of Kraft cardstock (1.5" x 4") and die cut with the new Grassy Terrain Die-namics and the lower edge of the Elegant Stitched STAX Die-namics.

Using liquid adhesive, I adhered the two stitched panels together and decorated with the colored images. Then I added liquid adhesive to front of the bottom (scored) 2" of the ink blended card base and adhered the stitched panel to it.

For the sentiment, I stamped one of the sentiments from the set with Versamark Watermark ink onto an anti-static treated Black Licorice cardstock and trimmed it to size with a paper trimmer. I adhered a second layer of black cardstock behind it for some bulk. After playing around with the easel design a bit and testing out the best placement for the sentiment strip I adhered the sentiment to the inside of the card with liquid adhesive.

Finally, I added some stars to the ink blended sky with a white gel pen.
