Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Wednesday! It's time for a new Weekly Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things. Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!
I have a super clean and simple birthday card to share with you today featuring the absolutely adorable penguin from the Holiday Penguins set. If it's not already obvious, I LOVE penguins! This is actually from a Christmas themed set but I converted this to a birthday theme by removing his Santa hat and giving him a bouquet of balloons from the Happy Hippos set. This was a fun way to stretch my crafty supplies!
I modified the image a bit by covering up the hat part of the stamp with some tape before I inked up the stamp. Afterwards, I hand drew in the remainder of his head with a Copic multiliner pen. I stamped the bouquet of balloons directly onto the penguin image. The images were stamped onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and highlighted with gel pens. I fussy cut the two images together as one unit.
COPIC COLORS
Penguin: C2/4/6, W00/0, R000/00, Y17 YR04
Balloons: R20/22/24/29/59
For the background, I took a piece of white card stock (4.25" x 5.5") and created a cloudy background with the Mini Cloud Edges stencil and some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide. Using the scalloped edge die from the Blueprints 27 Die-namics, I trimmed the panel to match the sketch challenge. I adhered this onto a Smooth White card base (4.25" x 5.5").
For the sentiment, I stamped one of the sentiment from the Bitty Birthday Wishes set onto a piece of anti-static treated Black Licorice cardstock with Versamark Watermark ink, added white embossing powder and heat embossed. The sentiment was diecut with one of the sentiment strip dies from the Blueprints 27 Die-namics set.
Finally, I adhered the colored image and the sentiment strip onto the panel with foam tape for some added dimension.
As always, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card. Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations.
