MFT Stamps Color Challenge 210

Hello Crafty Friends! There's a new Color Challenge up on the My Favorite Things Stamps Blog. Come play along for a chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!

I have a fun, clean and simple masculine birthday card to share with you today featuring my favorite birthday mice from the BB Mice Day to Celebrate set. I just love these adorable mice so much! The expressions on their faces are just the cutest! Because most of my card was created with Copic colored images, the color match to today's challenge is not perfect but the card was inspired by the new Color Challenge colors: Blue Yonder, Cornflower, Cement Gray and Gravel Gray.

I stamped the images from the Mice Day to Celebrate onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with gel pens. I used the coordinating Mice Day to Celebrate Die-namics to cut them out with.

COPIC COLORS
Mice: T0/1/3/5/7, R000/00
Dark Blue: B21/24/26
Light Blue: B91/93

I diecut two frames out of Smooth White and Cement Gray cardstock using the second largest die from the A2 Rectangle Frames Die-namics. I layered and adhered the two frames to one another with liquid adhesive.

I took a piece of Smooth White cardstock and I used the frame to align one of the sentiments from the stamp set. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel with MFT Extreme Black ink.

I altered the appearance of the mice with the balloon just a bit for a bit of interest and humor. After diecutting the image out with the coordinating die, I took a sharp pair of scissors and fussy cut through the small segments of cardstock that connected the balloon and balloon string the mice so that the only part connecting the balloon to the mice was where the balloon string was tied to his tail. Because the cardstock was quite thin on this area, I was able to ever so slightly twist the balloon upward so as to have the appearance that the balloon is lifting him upward. I added a little liquid adhesive to secure the balloon string and tail connection but the image was actually quite stable once I adhered it to the card front.

Next, I adhered the frame onto the panel with liquid adhesive. Then I adhered the mice onto the panel with foam tape for a bit of interest. Finally, I adhered the entire panel to a Smooth White cardbase (4.25" x 5.5").
