It's Christmas Time in the City! Today, I have a sweet Christmas card to share with you featuring one of my favorite background images from this collection Kringle's Department Store & Window Signs. It is an absolutely beautiful scene! And for my card today, it was just the perfect backdrop for some critters hustling and bustling through the city. Aren't these three critter stamps that I used from the collection, Rusty & Piper, Nick and Cotton & Nibbles, just the cutest?

Have you ever worked with unmounted stamps? Confession: I'm not sure why but it took me a LONG time to work up the courage to buy and then use an unmounted stamp. Perhaps because the majority of the stamps that are available in the market now are clear photopolymer that naturally cling onto stamping tools, we shy away from anything other than that??? Well, I really don't know why it took me so long to get there but I can totally vouch for the fact that unmounted stamps are super easy to use .. and with a very little learning curve.
Essentially, all that you need is a clear mounting stamp. Purple Onion Designs carries 2 sizes of clear mounting stamps as a temporary mounting solution. There is a 4" x 6" and a 6" x 6" size. These clear mounting stamps can be used to allow the unmounted stamps to "cling" onto acrylic blocks and stamping tools. After that, the unmounted stamps can be used just like the clear photopolymer stamps. The clear mounting stamps can easily be removed after stamping, stored, and used over and over again. There are some wonderful tutorials and videos over on the Purple Onion Designs website that can walk you through the process. Click HERE.
I stamped the critter images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with gel pens. I fussy cut all of the colored images.
COPIC COLORS:
Hedgehog: E0000/50/51/53, E53/23/25, R00/20
Fox: YR20/21/24/27, C00/1, R00/20
Bear/Bunny/Mouse: E0000/50/51/53/33, R00/20
Santa's Suit: R22/24/29/39, C00/1, T5/7, Y15
Black gloves: T3/5/7
Bell: Y13/15, E23
Red: R22/24/29/39
Green: YG01/03/17
White: C00/1
Blue: B00/02
Sidewalk: C00/0
Shadow: C1
For the background, I stamped the image onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock with Memento London Fog ink. I trimmed the panel with the stamped image down to 5.25" x 5.25". I wanted to keep the focus of the card on the adorable critters so I kept the coloring of the background on just the sidewalk. I adhered the panel to a piece of red cardstock (5.5" x 5.5"). I adhered all of the colored images with liquid adhesive.
For the sentiment, I stamped of one of the sentiments from the Merriest City Sentiment Set with Versamark Watermark ink onto a piece of anti-static treated black cardstock. I added white embossing powder before heat setting the embossing. The sentiment was then trimmed out with one of the dies from the MFT Blueprints 27 Die-namics. I adhered the sentiment to the panel with some foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest.
